•Reports of violence surfaced once again from Manipur when suspected Kuki-Zo militants torched a police outpost on the banks of the Barak river and set fire to several houses in Jiribam district, Manipur.
•Several Kuki-Zo civil society organisations issuing statements condemning the reactionary violence in their villages
•“Around sunset, we were told that Kuki militants were surrounding our Meitei village and so we panicked. We went to the nearest police station fearing for our safety and from there the security forces evacuated us to the nearest IDP camp. Around four hours later, we found out that all our homes had been burnt down,” one of the hundreds displaced said.
•Two Uttar Pradesh residents — Guddu Khan and Chand Miya Khan — were found dead while a third, Saddam Qureshi, sustained injuries in the Arang area, Chattisgarh.
•They were attacked by a mob, their vehicle was punctured and they were thrashed and thrown off a 30-feet high bridge on the Mahanadi river; causing the death of Chand and Guddu and injuries to Saddam.
•The truck in which they were ferrying cattle was found on the bridge.
•Mob lynching is a form of violence in which a mob, under the pretext of administering justice without trial, executes a presumed offender, often after inflicting torture and corporal mutilation.
